For Ismail, founding WorldRemit was the culmination of 20 years’ experience in the money transfer industry - spanning academic, consulting and in-house roles. Before setting-up his own business, he worked for the United Nations Remittance Programme, helping African money transfer companies comply with tough anti-money laundering rules introduced after the 9/11 attacks.

Ismail has published widely-cited research on the effect of remittances in Somaliland following the country’s civil war.

He holds an MSc and PhD from the University of London and an Executive MBA from London Business School.

Jon is a board level international banker with 30 years’ experience. His expertise includes corporate governance, operational management, internal audit, commercial lending, trade finance and relationship management.

Previously Jon was the Chief Operating Officer at HSBC Asia Pacific. He has lived and worked in a number of countries, including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Switzerland and the United States.

Jon has an MA in History from the University of Cambridge and was awarded an OBE for services to UK Trade and Investment in the 2012 Queen's Birthday Honours List.

John is a General Partner who helped set up and launch TCV’s London office in 2012. He focuses on investments in software, internet, and fintech companies. He serves on the board of directors at Believe (Euronext Paris: BLV), Mambu, FlixMobility, The Pracuj Group (WSE: GPP), TradeRepublic, RELEX Solutions, Revolut, Sport Radar (NASDAQ: SRAD), and Zepz. His other current investments include Brex, Dream Sports, Klarna, Miro, Mollie, Qonto, Razorpay, Redis Labs, SuperVista AG, and TourRadar.

John was previously an investor at Summit Partners, where he focused on investments across software, internet, and financial technology. He started his career in investment banking at Morgan Stanley, where he worked in both London and New York

Harry Nelis

Harry joined Accel in 2004 and invests in early and late-stage Internet and software companies. He has led many high-profile investments in addition to WorldRemit, including the travel-booking site KAYAK, German price comparison site Check24, the investment platform Funding Circle.

KAYAK went public on NASDAQ in July 2012 and was bought by Priceline in May 2013 for more than $2bn. Harry was ranked as one of technology’s top venture investors on Forbes’ annual Midas List. He was a member of the World Economic Forum and served on the Selection Committee of the WEF Technology Pioneers Programme for many years.

Harry holds an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School and a PhD and MS in Electrical Engineering from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.

Stewart leads investments in LeapFrog’s priority markets in South Asia. He co-led LeapFrog’s landmark investments in Shriram, WorldRemit, Mahindra, BIMA and SMK.

Stewart has 15 years' experience in investment banking, corporate finance and private equity. His experience includes mergers, acquisitions, disposals, IPOs, debt raisings and restructurings.

Before joining LeapFrog, he worked at Rothschild for six years in London and Dubai. He specialised in the insurance, banking and telecom sectors and worked throughout Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Stewart chairs the Asia Scotland Institute’s Business Advisory Council. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds a degree in law from the University of Aberdeen.

John Locke joined Accel in 2010 and helps lead the firm’s growth fund.

He focuses on consumer and SaaS companies. John is the lead investor and board member in SeatGeek, GoFundMe, Lightspeed, WyzAnt, Invoice2Go, Pond5, QMC Telecom, and The Zebra.

John also works on Accel's investments in Algolia, CrowdStrike, Monzo, RiskRecon, WorldRemit, and Tenable (where he served on the board prior to IPO). He formerly led investments in Lightspeed (acquired by CDPQ), Braintree/Venmo (acquired by PayPal), and OzForex (public).

John grew up in Ashland, Ohio and graduated from Princeton.

Lenhard was most recently the COO of Bill.com and the CEO of Invoice2go, a software platform that empowers independent, service-oriented small businesses to grow and manage their payments. Previously, he helped spin Magento out of eBay, ultimately selling the business to Adobe. Lenhard has also held executive roles at JPMorgan Chase and PayPal where he was Head of Global Strategy, and launched several entrepreneurial ventures.

Lenhard serves as a board member, advisor and seed investor to a number of growth companies in commerce and financial services. He holds a BA in Economics from Yale University and an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

With over twenty years of experience in SME banking and fintech, Richard has established himself as an industry leader. He currently serves as the CEO of Allica Bank, a digital challenger bank catering to SMEs.

Before joining Allica Bank, Richard played a crucial role as Group COO at Revolut during its expansion from 5 million to 15 million customers and entry into various new markets.

As the founding CEO of OakNorth, he was responsible for devising the business model, technology, and regulatory license application. Richard has also held senior positions at major banks, including TSB as Commercial Banking Director, and HSBC as COO for their UK Commercial Bank.
